Newsletter December 2018

As we come up to the end of another year, we can take the time to reflect on 2018 and look forward to the start of a brand new year in 2019.

For Hackney Matters, this has been a very exciting year for us.  We went live with our new website in April, and since then we have 500+ members who have joined up which we think is a great achievement, so thank you to you all.

Many thanks to those of you who have give us your views throughout the year, by taking part in short polls, surveys, focus groups and events.

So from all of us in the Consultation & Engagement team, have a wonderful Festive Season and a Happy New Year.

Vox Pop Video - “What does it mean to be a Hackney Matters panellist?”

When you go onto the website, you will see a video of two of our panelists talking about what it means to be a Hackney Matters member, and why residents should join the panel.

We would like to recruit new members, and what better way than to hear it directly from members of the panel.

If you would like to feature in a future video, please complete the quick registration in the activity list and we will contact you.

Quick Poll - GP at Hand

GP at Hand is a company which provides video consultations with GPs via an App on your smartphone. They claim to put the most accessible, high quality, safe and effective NHS GP service into the hands of every person who chooses to register with them by being able to talk to a GP via video chat on a device.  For more information visit https://www.gpathand.nhs.uk/

Answer our quick poll question now for 1 point.  This is the start of a bigger project to come where we will look to gain more feedback from those who have used it or plan to use it in the near future, so keep an eye out for it in our newsletters.

Group Talk Activity - Outside Events…...What would you like to see?

The Council holds various events throughout the year, and we would like to hear your ideas on how to improve our events and encourage more residents to attend.

What types of activities do you want to take part in?

What types of stalls and information would you like to see?

What would encourage you to attend an event outside, either in the Winter and/or Summer?

To take part in this discussion, please login to www.hackneymatters.org.uk, and select “Outside Events” from the “Get Involved - Activity List”.  You will be rewarded with 5 points for taking part.

Have Your Say - Hackney Local Implementation Plan (2019-2022) Consultation - Closing date 6 January 2019

RESIDENTS can help shape the long-term future of transport in the borough by having their say on the Council’s Local Implementation Plan (LIP).

This framework sets out how the Council will deliver London Mayor’s Transport Strategy up to the year 2041, and sets out transport initiatives and investments for the next three years.

The LIP is divided into 10 sections which cover proposals on how the Council will respond to the environmental challenges confronting an inner London borough and proactively plan for the rapid economic and population growth that it is undergoing.

Core to this plan is the Council’s aim of increasing more sustainable forms of transport – such as walking and cycling – and reducing both the volume and impact of car traffic with the aim of improving the quality of air in Hackney.

To have your say, visit: hackney.gov.uk/street-consultations; or write to: Freepost Streetscene by 16 December. Hard copies are available at the Hackney Service Centre and at libraries, or by phone request on: 020 8356 2897.

Have Your Say - Abney Park Restoration Project

Hackney Council is developing a proposal for the restoration of Abney Park which will include the building of a new café at the Stoke Newington High Street entrance to the park. The Council would like to hear from you about whether or not you currently use the park and whether or not you would visit a café in the park. It would help them to know how often you might go and what kind of café you would like to see there.

This information will help them put together a fundraising bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Funded Parks for the People programme.
